Vähese testimise põhjendamiseks tuuakse mitmeid ettekäändeid: testimine on kallis, ei loo lisandväärtust, testimiseks ei jää aega, pole võimalik testida, pole inimesi, kes testiks, pole vaja testida, ei viitsi testida. Kui mitte testida, siis ei pruugi midagi juhtuda, kuid võib juhtuda ka kõige hullem. Spetsialiste on testimise valdkonnas vähe. Testima peaksid tellija(tellimus), analüütik(analüüs), arendaja(kood/rakendus), testija(kaetus), admin(paigaldus,haldus, backup), lõppkasutaja(kasutajakogemus). Testijuhtimine: skoopimine, planeerimine, koordineerimine, raporteerimine. Testianalüüs ja testimine: testilugude kirjutamine, manuaalne testimine, puusalt testimine. Tehniline testimine: jõudlustestide ning automaattestide disain ja kodeerimine, turvalisuse testimine, koodiaudit. Erinevates keskkondades kasutatavuse testimine on äärmiselt tähtis. Testija omadused Kerdi sõnul: pessimist, puudub pime usk, tugevalt erinev mõtlemine, analüütik(out of the box), kavalus, õnn. Tööd peab alati rohkem olema. Startupil on kasulik palju väikseid kliente, see tagab stabiilsuse. Kiirlahendused on pikas perspektiivis ohtlikud.
