Üllatav oli  häkkimise definitsioon, mis välja toodi: häkkimine on mingi süsteemi  sügavuti tundmaõppmine, mis ei pea isegi arvutitega seotud olema. Varasem ettekujultus häkkimisest oli mul tunduvalt teistsugune. Kogu see informatsioon, mida selllest loengust (kui ka kõikjalt mujalt EIK-ist) robootikaklubi kohta sain, tekitas küll väga ilusa kujutluspildi meeldivast grupist, kuid lõppkokkuvõttes otsustasin ma siiski mitte sinna minna, kuigi algselt sellisest grupist kuuldes tekitas see huvi küll. Lisaks pakkus loeng ka mõtlemisainet stereotüüpide teemal, ning räägiti veidi ka Ruby on Rails-ist ja TechSisters-ist. Huvitav oli ka jutt depresioonist ja Petise sündroomist, millega täiesti reaalse tõenäosusega saan (ja saavad ka paljud teised kursusekaaslased) tulevikus lähemalt tutvutud. Jutt oli loogiline ja ma sain kogu loengust sõnumi, et näe kõvasti vaeva ja sind tagab edu.  Esitati ka muid soovitusi, tagamaks paremaid tulemusi töös ja hariduses. Lisaks rõhutati korduvalt, et selles töövaldkonnas on ajapiirangutest kinnipidamine ääretult tähtis.  Ning rõhutati ka seda, et kui õpid, siis õpi juba korralikult. Kui juba EIK-i sisse said, tasub sellele täielikult pühenduda. Lisaks tasuks ära märkida, et sellel loengupidajal oli veidi teine vaatepilt naiste stereotüüpidest selles valdkonnas, võrreldes eelmise nädala loenguga. Paistis, et teda ei häirinud hetkeolukord, ning võttis asja positiivsest küljest. Loengupidaja oli üks karismaatilisemaid, ning lisaks veel meeldiva esinemisstiiliga, muutes teema vägagi huvitavaks. Tunnistan, et mu ettekujutlus teemast enne loengut oli väga teistsugune (kuid see viga sai loengu käigus ära parandatud). Ainuke mõte, mis mul testimisega seoses varem pähe turgatas, oli millegipärast arvutimängude testimisega seoses.  Vähemalt sobis mu vale arusaam sellesse (valesse) stereotüüpi, et testimine on ainult neile, kes midagi muud väga ei oska (sest seda ma tõepoolest arvasin. Või siis vähemalt seda, et testimine on programmeerimise-valdkonna üks kõige madalamaid osi. Kui muid oskusi ei ole, peab alustama sealt). Kuid loengupidaja rääkis, et head testijad on vägagi kõrgelt hinnas, ja et normaalselt testida, peab olema küllaldaselt teadmisi koodikirjutamisest ja paljustki muust.  Kuid loengut kokku võttes pean siiski tunnistama, et peale kogu ettekande ärakuulamist oli mul  vähem soovi proovida testijana töötada, kui loengu alguses. Kuigi kogu loeng oli kaasahaarav ja huvitav, tuli härra Karmo jutu seest välja, et testijatel tasuks niiöelda olla paksem nahk, sest kriitikat saavad testijad palju. Loogiline on see küll, et kui kellegi programmist vigu otsid ja leiad, siis ei meeldi see enamasti programmeerijale endale.  Kuid seda igapäevaselt teha ma väga ei tahaks.  Kiusatus mitte koodikirjutaja tuju ära rikkuda oleks suur (ehk siis vigu mitte välja tuua), ning pidevalt ülekohtuseid süüdistusi saada ei oleks väga talutav. Kuid see, mis loengu teistest kõrgemale seadis, oli just tema suhtumine, või õigemini esitlusviis. Olenemata sellest, et loeng toimus varahommikul, äratas see mu üllatavalt kiiresti üles ja jäi kogu ürituse jooksul tugevalt mu tähelepanu keskpunkti.  Mõni võiks öelda, et ta tundus olevat väga pessimistlik, kuid mulle meenutas see pigem lihtsalt karmi reaalsuse väljaütlemist. Jutt, mis ta rääkis, oli puhas ja paljas tõde, ei mingit ilustamist ega muud sarnast. Pilt, mille ta niiöelda maalis, oli kirju, aga äärmiselt realistlik. Sest ega see reaalsus enamasti väga kena ei olegi. Või vähemalt suutis ta mind veenda, et ta on realist, mitte pessimist. Olen kuulanud varemgi korduvalt nii Tartus kui ka Tallinnas eri inimeste loenguid ja ettekandeid suhtumisest õppimisse, ja kuidas seda parandada, aga seda ma ei mäleta, et ükski neist oleks olnud sellisel tasemel, kui see, mida härra Lang esitas. Või siis vähemalt ei olnud ühelgi eelmisel sama võimast efekti. Mingil määral meenutas ta esitlus veidi Septeri loengut, sest mõlemad esitlused tuletasid meelde, et ega see reaalne elu kerge ei ole, ja et kui mõttetuks jääda ei taha, tasuks vaeva nägema hakata. Hariduse omandamist tasub võtta kui tööd. Kui suhtud õppimisse kehvasti, suhtud sa samamoodi ka töösse. Ning sellised töötajad väga kõrgelt hinnas ei ole. ütleksin isegi, et härra Lang peaaegu et ehmatas mind rohkem õppima, kuigi “ehmatama“ on võibolla liiga tugev sõna. Aga efekt, oli võimas sellegipoolest. Nendeks kaheks olidki kaks viimast loengut (7. ja 8. loeng), mille kuulamine-nägemine oli kohe kindlasti väärt seda aega, mis sai igal neljapäeva hommikul ainesse investeeritud. Neid kahte loengut soovitaksin ma igal IT-tudengil tungivalt vaadata. Ning ka ülejäänud loengud olid suuremas osas asjalikud, kuigi mõnikord pakkus mõni neist vähem huvi kui oleks võinud pakkuda.
